Jerry Carpe Diems
There once was a shark named Jerry.
Jerry had a story:
he was left at home while his family was away.
So he decided to seize the day.
Last December, my nephew got a rubber shark and named him Jerry (he also got a stuffed snake that day named Dean.) I’m not quite sure what happened to Jerry, all I know was that he was a felon on the run, and he visited an elementary school for a day and was never seen again.
Then, this summer, my nephew and I were visiting the Copenhagen Zoo. We were in the gift shop when I suddenly heard a yell throughout the store, “HANNAH! IT’S JERRY!” Jerry 2.0 was taken with us all over our trip, and posed at all the right moments.
My nephew (… and his parents, of course,) went on a short trip later this summer, and I was put to the challenge of feeding their plethora of fish. While up at their house, I noticed that Jerry was just hanging out in my nephew’s closet. My mom and I posed him peaking around the door and… that somehow evolved into the video shared above.
Making this little video was so much fun, and let me live out my puppeteering dreams! (I hope you noticed the subtle head gestures, the nuances of character, and the refined way he read Little Women.) Gotta love Jerry.
What can we take away from this?
Be like Jerry, seize the day!
